The Science Roadshow gave us all an opportunity to play with equipment and find out new things.
There was lots of discussion and learning as the class went around the exhibits.

This was also the week where we got to go to the Science Fair. Everyone in our school had contributed to the learning. Seniors had made their own display boards based on their learning. In Team 2 we were focusing on experiments.
Mrs Henderson got us to use  5 different  liquids which we mixed with baking soda and placed in plastic bottles. It was tricky to get the balloon around the top. Do you know which liquid worked the best?
Maybe you could try this at home.
The 5 liquids we used were milk, water, lemonade, vinegar and oil.

As part of our Science focus, we took advantage of the Scientific Learning in Room 8. This morning we saw the most amazing bubbles. How did they make them?
What can you experiment with at home to make bubbles this big?

Starting Term 3

It is always fun to start a new term. We have been moved around, so we get a chance to make new friends.
Some children rose to the challenge in the holidays and joined the Proctor Library. You are making a great  choice. Books are great to lose yourself in, to enjoy and to find out information. Ms Fletcher gets out 6 books every time she goes to the library. Reading is one of  her favourite things to do.
Will kindly shared some cupcakes with us to celebrate being back.

Julia kindly shared some oranges with the class. Oranges are great to help with fractions. We can think about halves and quarters.
It works on cup cakes too !

We are pleased to be back. Some children have gone up a level in Reading.
Some children are using their home writing books and writing stories each night. They want to be like Ms Fletcher. She writes stories.
Our Athletics programme has started. On Tuesdays we go to the hall, or on the field to learn ' Run, Jump, Throw' skills. You can practice these things at home too. It is  great to take a break from being on a device. We have been trying to balance. It is hard for some. Throwing balls, frogs and rubber chickens is fun to do too. Talk to us about our learning with Corinne.
The Science Fair is next week. Mrs Henderson and the children have been working hard to make the display. It is all about chemical changes.

Jacob took these photos of us enjoying our healthy fruit. Thanks Julia  for growing such delicious oranges!

Our Olympic Athlete

Wow! We met a real Olympic Medal winner. His name is Joseph Sullivan. He competes in canoeing. Currently, he is on an advertisement for coke. If you see him on the TV, he is finishing the race at the London Olympics where he and his rowing partner Nathan,  came from last place and won a gold medal.
We are learning about the Olympic Games. They start this weekend! They are in Rio, in Brazil.
We wonder if we will see Joseph Sullivan.
This is him at our school assembly.

You can support our Olympic Athletes by logging onto the Olympic Websites and sending messages of support to our NZ team.

Wacky Hair Day

We love dressing up at school. It gives us a chance to be creative and to think outside the square. Check out our colourful hair. You might not recognise some people.
